An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a restructured Maintenance Services team at the University of Surrey in Guildford. Working as part of an in-house services team of 35 you will be providing planned and reactive work on associated water services and outlets. The post will be required to support our current day pattern of 08.00 – 16.12 Monday to Friday.

This is a part time role, equivalent to 0.8 FTE or 4 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all water outlets in accordance with local policy and procedures and in accordance with HSG274 (L8) taking direction for the Legionella Responsible Person 
  • Ensuring failing plant or assets are reported to the Helpdesk and plant areas are maintained in good condition.
  • Delivering an effective response to maintenance demands from the University.
  • Ensuring compliance with all University H&S and Environmental systems and procedures and take an active part in the development of any policy.
  • Ensuring the use of equipment and materials in the delivery of maintenance services are appropriate, to current legislation and of the correct standard.
  • Keeping up to date with developments in their trade or field of profession and attend courses organised by the University to improve knowledge and understanding of relevant subjects.
  • Carry out multi-skilled tasks where relevant training/experience can be demonstrated such as (but not restricted to) mechanical isolation and fault finding linked to maintenance work.
  • Completing all necessary administrative work associated with departmental management systems, including the completion of work records (paper or electronic) stores issues, orders, estimates and health and safety records. Utilise Building Logbook to record all maintenance visits and any relevant defective information and repairs. All defect will be immediately reported to the Helpdesk for further action.

The post holder may be required to support out of hours rotas as required by the SSM (Service Support Manager) to ensure operational effectiveness and business continuity.
