Tresham College, part of The Bedford College Group, is seeking a visionary Vice Principal to lead our Health and Social Care, Business, Visitor Economy, Sport, Public Services, and Hair and Beauty curriculum areas and spearhead our strategic vision of education in the region.  With a vibrant community of over almost 6,000 learners split across 16-18 education and adult education, we're on a journey of growth and empowerment.

About the role

As the Vice Principal at Tresham College, your role will encompass a variety of key responsibilities. You will provide committed leadership and effective management across our campuses, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education and fostering achievement among our students. Your involvement in the ongoing development of The Bedford College Group will be instrumental, aligning with our vision and strategies for growth and excellence. With oversight of all aspects of provision for your defined curriculum areas at Tresham, you'll guarantee adherence to statutory requirements, policies, and procedures, ensuring effective communication and implementation throughout. Upholding our culture and values, you'll play a vital role in shaping the educational landscape and empowering our students for success.

About you

Ideal candidates for this role should possess a strong background in leadership within the education, skills, or training sector, with recent experience in a leadership role. You should demonstrate proficiency in managing curriculum development and implementing change initiatives, along with proven experience in budget management. Additionally, candidates should have a track record of effectively managing quality systems to ensure continuous improvement. A comprehensive understanding of current further and higher education funding mechanisms is essential to excel in this position.

Qualification profile

Candidates for this position should hold a degree-level qualification, providing a solid foundation in education or a related field. Additionally, a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) or Cert Ed (Certificate in Education) teaching qualification (or equivalent), is required to demonstrate the necessary pedagogical expertise and teaching proficiency.

About The Bedford College Group

The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.

Today, the Group is made up of a family of colleges across Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire: Bedford College, Central Bedfordshire College and Tresham College in the towns of Bedford, Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard, Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough; Shuttleworth College, a specialist land-based college; The Bedford Sixth Form, (the only dedicated sixth form in Bedford); The Corby Sixth Form, (opened in September 2023); and the National College for Motorsport alongside Silverstone race circuit. To widen accessibility to education and training, the Group also has community-based Learning Centres in Bedford, Corby, Wellingborough and Kettering which offer IT training.
