Applications are invited for a very dynamic post-doctoral scientist to work on a project funded by the HRB through the transnational JPI Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life ERA Net HDHL INTIMIC call "Prevention of unhealthy weight gain and obesity during crucial phases throughout the lifespan (PREPHOBES)".
This project First 1000 days Strategies to Prevent Childhood Obesity (acronym EndObesity), will develop, implement and evaluate innovative, multi-disciplinary strategies for prevention of childhood obesity by targeting family-based lifestyle factors in the pre-conception period, pregnancy and early childhood, covering the first 1000 days of life.
The consortium includes European partners from academia, municipal/governmental health care services, educational stakeholders, industry partners and parent childhood organisations, and combines expertise in multiple areas of childhood obesity science and implementation.
The post-doctoral researcher will conduct a systematic review and lead the analysis examining pregnancy diet and lifestyle intervention associations with offspring outcomes at birth and in childhood, using existing/ongoing intervention studies.
A focus will be on examination of the effectiveness of different methods used to deliver such interventions in general and high-risk pregnancy populations, identification of the facilitators and barriers for lifestyle changes, and the role of the father.
Candidates should be highly self-motivated, enthusiastic, interact well within a research team and hold a PhD in a relevant discipline, not limited to Epidemiology, Public Health, Implementation, Behavioural or Life Sciences, (with a focus on life course/nutritional/physical activity epidemiology, behaviour change or maternal health).
The ideal candidate must have excellent research skills as evidenced by a strong publication track record, allied with exceptional mentorship, project management and interpersonal skills. This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.
The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.
In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project:
