We are looking for an enthusiastic Training and Communications Manager for the Fleming Fund Fellowship Schemes at the University of Edinburgh.
The Fleming Fund Fellowships at the University of Edinburgh build knowledge and capacity in southern and east Africa to tackle the global challenge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). We are now looking for an experienced Training and Communications Manager who can develop and deliver training for Fleming Fund Fellows at the University in advocacy, policy development and communications skills, and who will ensure that work carried out in the fellowships is shared with key audiences and stakeholders.
This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working. There may be opportunities for optional travel to Africa during the course of the fellowship activities.
The opportunity:
The aim of the Fleming Fund is to build capacity in surveillance and data management that addresses AMR in low-and-middle-income countries. Academic mentors at the University of Edinburgh are working with fellows from Zambia, Kenya, Malawi and Uganda to provide training in technical and transferable skills that align with the needs and aims of the National Action Plans for AMR in each country. The Communications and Training Manager will develop and deliver training for the Fleming Fund Fellows in communications, writing for diverse audiences, policy advocacy and public engagement. They will also deliver the communications strategy for the Fleming Fund Fellowship Scheme at the University of Edinburgh, including managing web and social media platforms and regular newsletters for internal and external audiences.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- Graduate level education or equivalent plus relevant work experience
- Experience in development and delivery of teaching and training for Continuing Professional Development and/or Postgraduate level or equivalent experience, in communications and writing for diverse audiences
- Proven ability to plan and prioritise a diverse workload
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential
- Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of colleagues
