We are recruiting a grade 4 technician who will support the core laboratory functions within the Institute.
Your primary role function will be core laboratory support including housekeeping, health and safety, maintenance of equipment, and training of researchers and students on equipment.
Occasionally, you may be required to support other departments within the institute, so a flexible approach to work is essential. A large proportion of the job is core laboratory support, but occasionally, there will be opportunities to provide technical and experimental research support for members of academic staff, as well as high-quality experimental support on a cost-recovery model, but this will be limited. It is important to understand that this role is not a dedicated research technician on a specific research project.
A flexible approach to working is essential.
You must have the knowledge and practical experience in one or more of the biological subject areas (eg. Biological Sciences, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology). You will have a minimum of 3x GCSEs at Grade C (4) or above (or 3 x functional skills qualifications level 2 or equivalent), including English Language, Mathematics, and Information Technology / Computer Studies.
We offer a generous annual leave package plus discretionary University closure days, excellent training and development opportunities, as well as a great occupational pension scheme.
The post is permanent.
The University has the right to close the vacancy early if it is deemed that there have been enough applications received
