Job description

The Department of Analytical, Environmental and Forensic Sciences is seeking an exceptional Teaching Fellow to contribute to an exciting executive education programme known as the ‘Bolashaq Bespoke & 500-Scholars Programme.’ (https://www.kcl.ac.uk/news/kings-forensics-continues-successful-collaboration-with-the-government-of-kazakhstan & https://www.kcl.ac.uk/news/bolashaq-scholarship-programme-continues-its-success-at-kings-forensics ).

The initial focus of the Programme was solely on forensic science disciplines, but since its first iteration – and due to its success and high interest – the Programme has expanded to include wider and broader fields. And as of 2023, the Programme is accepting participants from fields within education, medicine, healthcare, pharmacology, and information technology. In addition to forensics, law, and intellectual property.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination, design, and delivery of teaching material to the Programme participants, in addition to tutoring and supervising their research projects. This will also include liaising and networking with internal and external experts for the delivery of bespoke lectures, practical and knowledge building activities, formative and summative assessments, as well as providing administrative support for the organisation of networking events and educational trips. It is not necessary for the post holder to have a high level of expertise in one of the aforementioned disciplines, but the successful candidate should be familiar with the process of delivering student research projects within one or more of these fields. The successful candidate should also be willing to learn, develop knowledge, and engage in fields unrelated to their own to ensure the successful delivery of the Programme. In addition, it would be valuable for the successful candidate to possess interdisciplinary skills across various fields, and ideally related to the expertise of the participants accepted on the Programme.

The role holder will be working closely with the Programme Director (Dr Nunzianda Frascione) as well as the Programme Administrator, Project Lead, and any other parties involved with the Programme.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 12 months, with the possibility of an extension.

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent. Part-time and/or flexible options can be explored for the right candidate (minimum 50% full time equivalent).

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, delivery and marking of various assessment formats throughout the Programme, including the research project outputs, such as a written review, and oral and poster presentations.
  • Liaise with internal/external lecturers to support the delivery of additional teaching sessions in the participant’s specialist fields.
  • Assist the Programme Administrator in the organisation of social events and external visits.
  • Act as a responsible team member and develop productive working relationships with other members involved in the Programme (e.g. Project Lead, representatives of Bolashaq, and other relevant organisations).

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilitiesas may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.
