The School of Biochemistry is looking to recruit a Teaching Associate to help academic staff with the delivery, development and assessment of practical class and small-group teaching. The role holder will also assist with school and faculty outreach, inreach, post-offer and open day activities and support innovation in and development of teaching activities, in particular practical class development.

The post has arisen due to secondment of the current post-holder to a different role. The post is fixed term until August 31, 2025. Ideally, we are looking for someone to start as soon as possible after interview.

The role holder will have excellent communication skills, a relevant postgraduate research degree (or equivalent professional qualification/experience) and a demonstrable interest in education. An important aspect of the job is an ability to enthusiastically carry out innovation in and development of teaching activities, in particular laboratory class development and online/blended materials.

You will assist academic staff with the delivery, development and assessment of practical class and small-group teaching. You will act as lead demonstrator in practical classes, training postgraduate demonstrators and overseeing their support of undergraduate learning during classes. You will ensure the smooth running of practical classes, liaising with the technical team, academic and professional services staff where required.

You will also assist with school and faculty outreach, inreach, post-offer and open day activities and support innovation in and development of teaching activities, in particular practical class development.

You should apply if you have good subject knowledge in the molecular life sciences and are keen to teach practical skills to undergraduate students and develop both knowledge and skills in small group teaching environments such as workshops.

For informal enquiries, please contact: Professor Mike Jones ([email protected] , School Education Director).

The advert will close at 11.59pm on Sunday 14th of July.  Interviews are expected to be held on Tuesday 30th of July 2024.

We recently launched our strategy to 2030 tying together our mission, vision and values.

The University of Bristol aims to be a place where everyone feels able to be themselves and do their best in an inclusive working environment where all colleagues can thrive and reach their full potential.
