Brockenhurst College has a new opportunity available for a Tai Chi Tutor to join their team teaching adult learners based in their Lymington Adult Skills CentreYou will join us on a claims, permanent basis offering a competitive salary of £21.29 - £22.54 per hour, DOE.

As our Tai Chi Tutor, you will continually improve the learning experience and achievement of adult students through effective teaching and course coordination.

Responsibilities as our Tai Chi Tutor will include:

  • Teaching Tai Chi courses as agreed with the Area Organiser. We are looking specifically for a tutor to teach a Tai Chi class for beginners on a Thursday 12.30 – 13.30.  Subject to numbers, the course will normally run over three terms. 11 – 13 weeks in each term.
  • Marking registers and provide schemes of work.
  • Working closely with the Area Organisers, particularly with regards to the recruitment, monitoring and progression of students.
  • Pay due attention to the principles of inclusive learning including:
    • individual learning styles.
    • support for students with learning difficulties and disabilities.
    • extension resources/activities for students of higher ability.
  • Contributing to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum.
  • Contributing to the teaching/learning resource bank for the relevant subject/course.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/course.
  • Attending relevant Enrolment/Open Events as appropriate, in consultation with the Area Organisers and undertaking such duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time.

What we are looking for in our Tai Chi Tutor:

  • Professional qualification in relevant subject area
  • Appropriate teacher training qualification – OR working towards this which can be done whilst teaching the course
  • Successful track record of teaching adults or a desire to teach and obtain the relevant qualification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current developments in the relevant curriculum area
  • Evidence of working towards and achieving  personal targets
  • Empathy with and strong commitment to meeting the needs of individual students
  • Flexible working hours may include evening work and travel between sites
