The Role

Do you have experience in delivering student recruitment events and supporting with student mobility initiatives? Are you creative, personable, and committed to achieving strategic goals? If so, we would like to hear from you!

This role offers a unique opportunity to support the development and implementation of a range of projects to broaden the SAgE Faculty’s recruitment activity for undergraduate and postgraduate audiences. You will work as part of the Faculty Marketing and Communications Team to coordinate a number of student recruitment and admissions activities such as our open days, offer holder experience days and international partnerships with a key focus on our fantastic School of Natural and Environmental Sciences. 

The School of Natural and Environmental Sciences is world-leading in teaching and research across several subjects including biology, chemistry, marine science, environmental science and agriculture. You will provide clear and accurate information, with the ability to build productive working relationships with internal stakeholders. Outstanding communication and presentation skills, and the ability to plan and organise complex events are essential to this role.

Key Accountabilities

  • Implement the School’s student recruitment strategy, including developing pre-application and conversion activities in partnership with the 
  • wider Faculty Marketing and Communications Team and School.
  • Responsible for the delivery of Open Days, Offer Holder Experience Days and virtual webinars to ensure that such events and activities are 
  • successfully run.
  • Manage the administration of the School’s student admissions and scholarship activity, in accordance with service standards and procedures.
  • Coordinate the selection process, in liaison with relevant academic staff when required, for all taught programmes.
  • Maintain oversight of postgraduate research admissions, including liaison with relevant postgraduate research selectors to ensure all 
  • postgraduate research opportunities are appropriately highlighted and managed.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of international partnerships and student mobility initiatives in liaison with relevant 
  • academic colleagues, International Office and wider Faculty Marketing and Communications Team.
  • Provide management information and analysis as required, in liaison with the Faculty Planning and Performance Team.
  • Support with student registration and induction administration, including accurate and timely correspondence with students. 
  • Where appropriate, attend student recruitment focussed Higher Education exhibitions, nationally and internationally as required. This will involve liaison with Central Marketing, UK Student Recruitment, Admissions and the International Office to identify appropriate events and ensure join up of activity.
  • Provide administrative support and training to the wider Faculty and School teams as required.


The Person (Essential)
Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

  • Experience and awareness of working in a student recruitment or admissions environment.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, both oral and written, in a range of styles appropriate to target audiences.
  • The ability to plan and organise complex, customer-oriented events or projects.
  • The ability to evaluate and report on the effectiveness/impact of events and projects.
  • Excellent time-management and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage a complex workload. 
  • Excellent team working skills with the ability to initiate, develop and maintain productive working relationships with key stakeholders.

Desirable

  • An awareness and understanding of complexities of recruitment to STEM subjects and knowledge of issues relating to aspiration-raising, widening participation and progression.

Qualifications

  • A level (or equivalent) qualification plus work experience in a relevant role.
