Student Recruitment Officer (Degree Apprenticeships)

Updated: about 15 hours ago
Location: Salford, ENGLAND
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 17 Jun 2024

A bit about Marketing, Recruitment and External Relations…

In the Directorate of Marketing, Recruitment and External Relations, we are responsible for the core range of activities that promote and engage with our external environment and stakeholders. This includes both prospective and current students, businesses and our local community. Made up of Marketing and Communications, Student Recruitment and Outreach and External Relations teams, we work together to plan and deliver key activities that support the University’s ambitions for growth, diversity and an increased profile.

The Student Recruitment and Widening Participation Team is a busy team whose core focus is the provision of information, advice and guidance to prospective students to help inform their decision-making about higher education. We work in partnership with a wide range of people across the University in the delivery of that information and guidance.

So, what will the role involve?

This is an exciting time to join the University of Salford as the University has recently been successful in securing significant funding from the Office for Students (OfS) to support the growth and diversification of our degree apprenticeship portfolio. The funding will increase the quality of opportunity for degree apprenticeships across the Higher Education sector, growing capacity and capability to meet present and future skills needs.

We’re looking for a Student Recruitment Officer to implement key recruitment activities for our degree apprenticeship courses to meet the apprentice recruitment targets that we’ve committed to in the OfS funding bids. These activities will include supporting the planning, organisation, delivery and evaluation of employer and apprentice engagement events and liaising with colleagues to target prospective new and existing employers who would be interested in upskilling their existing staff via the apprenticeship pathway and/or recruiting new apprentices. You’ll also represent the university at events and fairs at schools and colleges, as well as working with new and existing employers to promote our degree apprenticeships and raise a broader awareness of what degree apprenticeships are.

You’ll be experienced in balancing a number of different priorities while keeping focused on the enquirer experience. You’ll be a people person with a keen eye for detail, great communication skills and the ability to work closely with stakeholders.

You are expected to be independent and driven, and, in addition to your core role linked to the OfS project, you’ll be involved in a range of other activities with the team, including supporting Open Days and other recruitment activity. It’s a busy, varied and fun role for the right person – no two weeks are ever the same.

It’s really important to note that there will be some domestic travel and possible overnight stays in the role, and the post holder will be required to regularly work on campus as well as flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekend commitments. Due to the amount of travel with this role, we’re looking for someone who has a valid and full driving licence and is comfortable driving mid-long distances regularly*.

Please note that we are looking for a candidate who can start by 2nd of August ideally.
