We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced manager to lead the Fee Record function within our Student Records, Data, and Scheduling team.

This key role plays a vital part in the wider Student and Academic Administration Department, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the University's student fee records and University bursary and scholarship provisions. In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of a significant volume of data, managing invoiced tuition fees exceeding £150 million annually, and overseeing the disbursement of millions in scholarships, bursaries, and fee remissions.

About the role

In this leadership role, you will leverage your in-depth knowledge of student record systems to manage the University's complex fee record function. You'll oversee a team of three, setting priorities and ensuring the team meet operational targets related to tuition fee invoicing, scholarships and bursaries, US Federal Aid loans, and private funding. You'll act as a point of escalation, managing individual student cases related to hardship, indebtedness, or complex fee inquiries, while ensuring adherence to University procedures and high-quality service standards.

You’ll work as part of the wider university, liaising with other teams to ensure consistent application of student record processes and overall policy implementation, aligning your team’s processes with University and national policies, and encouraging ongoing improvement and innovation.

About you

We are looking for a confident, thorough, and self-motivated manager who is technically able and has an eye for detail and accuracy. You will possess excellent in-depth knowledge of student record systems (ideally SITS), as well as detailed knowledge of specialist work systems, practices, and processes related to the role and the work area including the Student Loans Company, Office for Students, Research Councils etc. You’ll have experience within the higher education sector, with a good understanding of the current and future activities of the sector.

A proven manager, you’ll be comfortable leading a team to deliver operational excellence, prioritising and managing your own workload and the workload of your team to ensure key deadlines and objectives are met. You will regularly encounter changing priorities and different situations which will require proactive management, so must be confident in using your initiative and judgement to identify appropriate solutions.

What we can offer

In addition to salary, you will receive a yearly incremental pay rise, generous annual leave entitlement of 25 days holiday plus 7 university closure days and 8 bank holidays (pro rata for part time roles), a generous pension, access to world-class leisure facilities on campus, a range of travel schemes, and supportive family friendly benefits including an excellent on-site nursery.

How to apply

To apply please submit a CV and cover letter outlining why you are suitable for this role. You should include specific detail about how you meet the essential criteria stated in the person specification, including core competencies.
