The CDT Senior Training & Innovation Producer is an exciting new role that will play a key part in helping design and deliver ground-breaking training and innovation models for StoryFutures as part of the game-changing work we do with the Creative Industries.  You will be working with world-leading creative companies and industry experts, as well as academic across a number of R & D collaboration projects that bring industry and academic partners together In new transformative ways.

This will include helping to design and deliver a new challenge-led model for our new Centre for Doctoral Training in AI for Media Inclusion, on which we are partnered with the University of Surrey, so you will work closely with working closely an interdisciplinary CDT team, with PHD students and with industry to identify real world problems around inclusion that AI can potentially help solve. 

The role sits within StoryFutures new Strategic Business Unit, working closely with the Head of Partnerships and Training, and alongside the CDT Manager and StoryFutures Senior Producer, where you will be responsible for delivery of a number of training and innovation programmes aimed at producing next generation AI media inclusion leaders, and in changing digital media from a ‘one size fits all model’ to one that is adaptable and inclusive for all people.  This is an excellent opportunity to put your stamp on a range of unique and high value transformative programmes for the creative & technology industries, for StoryFutures and for Royal Holloway University. 

The CDT Senior Training & Innovation Producer will need to be innovative, agile, responsive, and creative in their approach to the design of new programmes and challenges, and require excellent people, project, programme and event management skills in their approach to delivery.

About StoryFutures; StoryFutures new Strategic Business Unit builds on the huge success of the work over the last 5 years of StoryFutures helping grow the immersive sector of the Creative Industries, through innovative R & D programmes, co-production support and in delivering innovative training to skill up the nation in the use of new immersive technologies.  It sits inside CoSTAR National Lab for R&D in Creative Technology which is the largest ever investment in creative industries R&D in UK history: a £51.1m programme led by Royal Holloway, University of London to develop a National R&D Lab for creative technologies to ensure the UK’s screen and performance industries have innovation infrastructure needed to compete globally. AboutCentre for Doctoral Training in AI for Media Inclusion; This combines the world-leading expertise of the Surrey Institute for People-Centred AI at the University of Surrey, a pioneer in AI technologies for the creative industries (vision, audio, language) with StoryFutures, Royal Holloway University leader in creative production and audience experience (arts, psychology, design). It is funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) as part of the government’s strategy to ensure the country has the top global expertise and fosters the next generation of researchers needed to seize the transformational benefits of AI technology.

Its aim is to train 80+ PHD students as world leaders in inclusive media, and to work with creative and technology industry partners in a dynamic way to forge a game changing approach to the research.

What You Will Be Doing: 

  • Helping to forge and deliver a ground-breaking challenge-led model for the CDT, working with both universities, our creative industry and end-user partners 
  • Developing and maintaining industry partnerships to build and support a sustainable eco-system for the CDT and the StoryFutures Strategic Business Unit
  • Champion and lead the creative industry transformation to inclusive media
  • Co-ordinate and support PGT curriculum and courses into CDT training in line with StoryFutures strategy 
  • Help design, develop and deliver the CDT Training Programme in Creative Practice, and co-ordinate and support the integration of the PGT curriculum and courses for the CDT training programme in line with the CDT and StoryFutures strategy
  • Contribute on a senior level to opportunities for internal and/or external funding that help drive the success and impact of the CDT and the StoryFutures Strategic Business Unit
  • Responsible for the effective delivery of projects within funding programme goals and KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators), including translating and delivering sector needs, working within the research culture of the CDT and partner Universities
  • Contributing to research outputs and impact from the CDT programmes, and to publishable reports

  • Have a proven track record of successfully running large scale programmes with multiple partners at a local or national level
  • Have a proven track record of managing teams and/or multiple projects at the same time
  • Have a proven track record in developing training or innovation R & D models with successful outcomes
  • Have a love of and track record of working with people and new ideas
  • Have evidence of having worked in innovation and in forging pathways to success
  • Have an emerging or growing record of  publishable/ published research
  • Enjoy making connections and bringing new ideas to programme delivery.
  • Are adept at problem solving and making things happen.
  • Have excellent communication skills. 
  • Have a positive ‘can do’ attitude, work well in a team, proactive and self-confident.  Be used to working under high levels of independence and responsibility.

This is available to start from 2nd September 2024. This post is based in Egham, Surrey, but with the expectation of flexible working time there and at the National Lab which is being built in the region. We offer flexible working and national travel as appropriate. The successful applicant will spend significant time liaising with Network Lab partners across the UK.
