Oxford Population Health (Nuffield Department of Population Health) contains world-renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching.
We are seeking to recruit a medical statistician with a good programming background and an interest in methodological issues to work within a Cancer Research UK funded research programme called “Benefits and Risks of Cancer Treatments''. The main focus of the programme is to obtain quantitative information regarding long term outcomes in people diagnosed with cancer. The research uses large datasets from routine data sources to better understand the epidemiology and optimal treatment of a number of different cancers, including Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, pre-invasive and invasive breast cancer, and advanced cancers.
The successful candidate will work as part of a team that includes statisticians, epidemiologists, oncologists, a surgeon, a radiotherapy physicist and DPhil students.
To be considered you will hold a degree at Masters level or equivalent, with substantial numerical content, eg mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a physical science. Experience and practical success in statistical analysis of medical data and programming skills in a statistical language, including Stata or R/S-plus, SAS are essential for this post. Relevant experience in a statistical programming environment and processing and linking very large datasets would be desirable.
The post is full-time (although part-time is considered) and fixed term for two years. The closing date for applications is noon on Friday, 22 March 2024
For informal discussion, please contact Sarah Darby: [email protected] or Paul McGale: [email protected]
You will be required to upload a CV and a cover letter as part of your online application. The cover letter should clearly describe how you meet each of the selection criteria listed in the job description.
