We are looking for a fixed term Staff Clinician in Ophthalmology in the Department of Clinical Science and Services. This person would work mainly from our Hawkshead Campus, a 15-minute train ride from the centre of cosmopolitan London. The appropriate candidate will be expected to enhance the department’s reputation through scholarship in clinical activities and teaching. You will achieve this by delivering professional services within the College’s hospitals, delivering clinical training on veterinary and paraveterinary undergraduate curricula and participating in postgraduate training programmes.
We are looking for true team players with exceptional leadership and communication skills and who are enthusiastic about working with students, including supporting undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. We are looking for candidates with a RCVS registrable degree in veterinary science, who hold or are eligible to obtain an European or American postgraduate diploma in Ophthalmology. A background in research work in one of the College’s areas of special interest and a PhD, although desirable, are not essential.
We offer a generous reward package and benefits including:
- Competitive and attractive pension package
- Generous 30 days annual leave per annum (plus bank holidays and concessionary days)
- On site café and restaurant
- Free membership to the newly built Fitness and Wellbeing Centre located on site (gym, badminton, climbing wall, Zumba, yoga and Pilates classes included)
- Cycle to work scheme
- Free mini-bus service to and from Potters Bar station and Hawkshead Campus
Potential applicants wishing to discuss this position informally are encouraged to contact Prof. Daniel Chan (Head of Department) email: [email protected] or Prof Vicky Lipscomb (Clinical Director) email: [email protected] or Dr Roser Tetas (Co-Head of Ophthalmology) email: [email protected] .
The RVC values Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and therefore welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities. Balancing both the needs of the business with those of our staff, we will consider applications to work on a flexible basis.
