Working at Bristol Veterinary school (Langford Campus), this role will support the John Oldacre Centre for Sustainability and Welfare in Dairy Production at Wyndhurst Farm. Alongside the Research Project Officers and Farm manager, you will be responsible for providing farm technical advice and assistance under the guidance of the academic staff. Working on various projects, you will be responsible for a wide range of research objectives and milestones (including, but not limited to): collecting and performing analysis on biological agents; undertaking calf husbandry practices; recording and monitoring farm husbandry practices using CCTV, data loggers and automatic feeders.
This role is currently funded for two years and will be offered as open-ended with fixed term funding. The role is full-time contract for 24 months however part-time arrangements will be considered.

Working to support all academic projects at the John Oldacre for Sustainability and Welfare in Dairy Production at Wyndhurst Farm. Primary responsibilities are managing technical aspects of the projects, allocate resources, liaise with stakeholders, collect, transport, and process biological samples and data generated, setting up and calibrating equipment, and assisting with reporting.

The ideal candidate will be diligent and self-motivated with a strong eye for detail. A strong organisational and technical approach and proven working knowledge or background in farm research is expected. We would welcome candidates from a biological sciences background.

Contract type: Open ended with fixed funding for 2 years

Work pattern: Full time 

Grade: H

Salary: £32,982-37,099 per annum

Shift pattern: 35 hours per week
