Software Developer (KEEP+ Associate), DMS

THE PROJECT

The University of Essex in partnership with Fisk Group offers an exciting opportunity to a graduate with the relevant skills and knowledge to work on the exciting project “Visual Building Fire Protection System (VFPS)”, which seeks to develop an automated and intelligent system for the building fire protection in the built environment. The proposed project underpins automated building geometry processing and user-friendly interface and functionalities for effective management and representation of the fire protection system, with the aim to transform the fire protection industry. This collaborative project which the KEEP+ Associate will lead has received matched funding from the KEEP+ programme.

This post is fixed term until December 2022 and is based at the Fisk Group’s office in Chelmsford, Essex.   

DUTIES OF THE POST

The duties of the post will include:

  • Looking at existing business processes within company, understand technical and business needs and prepare the system requirements
  • Develop a data management interface and database
  • Develop a GUI environment
  • Develop software components using relevant programming languages
  • Implementing the company and their client’s feedback and any additional features, testing and elimination of bugs.
  • Embed technology and upskill company staff
  • Prepare project reports, evaluations, handovers, and sign-off sheet

KEY REQUIREMENTS

The post holder must have:

  • BSc in Computer Science, Data Science or a related discipline
  • Experience of practical software development using programming languages such as Python/C# /Java.
  • Experience and good understanding of software development life cycle.
  • Experience of working on CAD modelling
  • Experience of successfully working on a software development project to completion.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
