The Kennedy Institute at the University of Oxford has an exciting opening for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Operations Technician to work at our state-of-the-art Single-Cell and Spatial Genomics Shared Research Facility. The successful application will work closely with Kennedy researchers to carry out genomics methods involving sample handling to perform complex experimental procedures. They will assist in running workflows according to established SOPs and help to implement new methods. The post-holder will become skilled with the latest multimodal single-cell and spatial transcriptomics methods and gain experience with the operation of a high throughput genomics facility.
The ideal applicant will have a degree in biomedical, biological, or biotechnological science related area. Experience in molecular biology techniques including PCR, qPCR, DNA/RNA and single-cell library preparation is essential. You will require knowledge of Next-Generation Sequencing and have demonstrable administrative and project management skills. Experience in flow cytometry, histology and spatial genomics are desirable. This post will require frequent out-of-hours working and occasional travel to seminars/meetings.
This is a fix term position until 31st July 2026.
The successful applicant will be based at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences.
