Loughborough University has an exciting opportunity to join the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering as Senior Technical Specialist – Electrical and Electronics.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team to ensure that taught and research activities are completed in a timely manner. You will help in the setting up of lab session within the school including our STEMLab and the new DIGILab facilities.
You’ll provide advice and support to student and staff in the development of their research projects. In addition, you will be expected to provide supervisory cover during times when the workshop supervisor is absent or not available. This will include the management of staff and the workflow through the department.
You will be part of a dedicated team of electrical / electronic engineering technical staff ensuring a flexible, high quality and timely service is provided to the school’s many customers within an ever-changing research and teaching influenced environment.
Key Requirements:
- You will have a good understanding of Printed Circuit Board (PCB) manufacture and ideally have some knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Programmable Controller (PC) control systems.
- You will participate in and oversee the provision of technical Instruction for the design, development, build, test, and calibration of unique electronic / electrical cabinets.
- You will help maintain existing and develop, dedicated instrumentation, and research rigs.
- You will have a knowledge and understanding of using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
