Europe's top cancer charity, Cancer Research UK, has combined with the University of Cambridge to fund the world class Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, situated on the Addenbrookes Biomedical Campus in Cambridge.

As part of the University Of Cambridge School Of Clinical Medicine, the Institute's research ranges from basic cancer biology through translational cancer research to clinical application. The Institute currently houses over 400 researchers and support staff with 22 research groups and associated core facilities in a state-of-the-art research facility.

The Cambridge Institute Pharmacokinetics & Bioanalytical Core Facility (PK/B Core) provides technical advice, direction, and service to scientists at all levels of the Institute and external collaborators. The PK/B Core offers a diverse analytical service for the quantification of therapeutic molecules to a wide range of research and clinical based projects and trials (requiring GCP compliance).

We are looking for an experienced analytical scientist to join our team as a mass spectrometry instrumental specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • The daily maintenance, calibration, and operation of Sciex Triple quadrupole and QTOF instruments (6500, and 6600) and associated UHPLC systems.

  • Ensuring mass spectrometry equipment is running optimally.

  • Developing quantitative LC-MS/MS based assays together with other members of the PKB team.

  • Validating LC-MS/MS based assays to the current OECD M10 guidelines to support clinical trials.

  • Providing a metabolomics service to the Institute research groups.

You will ideally have a postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline, coupled with advanced scientific and laboratory knowledge in the analytical field. Experience in the analysis of large molecule therapeutics would be advantageous (proteins, mAb & ADCs).

Situated on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus adjacent to other world-class research laboratories and Addenbrooke's Hospital, the Institute aims to link the laboratory to the clinic carrying out cancer research of direct relevance to patients. We aim to save more lives by preventing, controlling and curing cancer. Join us and bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.

Closing date: 31st January 2024

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a security check.
