Senior Research Associate in Immersive Natural History Experiences

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Associate (SRA) to join the MyWorld project. The role of this Senior Research Associate will be to explore the use of Immersive Technologies to support our understanding and relationship with the natural world in new ways, through the co-ordination and development of experimental immersive projects. The Senior Research Associate will be developing these projects collaboratively within an integrated and interdisciplinary research team working closely in partnership with industry partners. The appointee will be expected to co-ordinate planning and delivery of a portfolio of experimental immersive natural history experiences, bringing together the creative and R&D strands within MyWorld. They will contribute to their specification, design and implementation.  They may also be asked to support the design and delivery of relevant short courses and supervision of related project work associated with the MyWorld Programme.

The Senior Research Associate will be developing these projects collaboratively within an integrated and interdisciplinary research team. 

  • Playing a leading role (with support) in the design, specification, development and implementation of the Immersive experimental projects to change the way we see, understand and interact with the natural world;
  • Collaborating with researchers from across the MyWorld project to design, co-ordinate and deliver R&D and other relevant activities;
  • Collaborating with MyWorld’s strategic partners to resource and develop a programme of R&D that explores the technical challenges identified;
  • Playing a leading role (with support) in the preparation of funding bids, publications, other outputs (including blogs, social media, etc.), and wider impact and engagement.

You have:

  • Extensive relevant industrial/commercial experience in immersive technologies and/or a PhD in Computer Science, Human-Computer-Interaction, or a closely related technology discipline.
  • Awareness of latest developments in the field of immersive technologies, audience understanding and behaviour change, including extensive knowledge, technical skills, and experience in developing engaging immersive experiences.
