Working in the Haematology Department under Dr Elspeth Bruford and as a member of the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee (HGNC), this post is for a project manager to expand the current remit of the HGNC to gene naming in further species, thanks to funds from our collaborators at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Tennessee (USA). Standardised gene naming is of crucial importance as a supporting service to the fields of genomics and clinical medicine in its aim to provide unique, and where possible informative and stable, gene nomenclature for human and other key species. You will be ready to manage your own project, including collaborating with external groups and researchers and working with developers to create a new database and website.
