About the SGDP Centre

The Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry (SGDP) Department’s focus is on common psychiatric disorders that emerge in childhood such as mood disorders (anxiety and depression), ‘externalising’ disorders (disruptive behaviour including hyperactivity and addictions), and cognitive disorders (learning disabilities and the autistic spectrum). Scientists at the SGDP lead some of the UK’s foremost longitudinal cohort and twin studies including TEDS, eRISK, Dunedin, IMAGEN and GLAD. Collaborative interdisciplinary research and training are the hallmarks of the SGDP, with research encompassing behavioural genetics, molecular genetics, experimental psychology and psychiatry, and neuroimaging.

About the Faculty

The IoPPN is a Faculty of King's College London and the largest academic community in Europe devoted to the study and prevention of mental illness and brain disease.

About the role

As the Senior Research Administrator, you will be responsible for overseeing the administrative aspects of the research project, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with relevant policies and regulations. You will work closely with the research team, funding agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate the efficient execution of the project.

This role will suit an experienced research administrator looking to take on a new challenge, seeking to move into research management.  This is a part-time post at 60% full time equivalent (21 Hours per week), with flexibility in working hours and hybrid working pattern. You will be offered a fixed term contract from 1st January 2025 until 31st December 2030.


About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1.      Working knowledge of the end-to-end project lifecycle and experience of supporting large-scale and complex research projects.

2.      Working knowledge of People XD, Unit 4 Business World and Worktribe or other university equivalents.

3.      Working knowledge and experience of applying regulatory policies and procedures in a large organization.

4.      Highly numerate and experience of budget management and costings.

5.      Proficient IT skills (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience of utilizing advanced digital technology in day-to-day work.

6.      Effective communication and interpersonal skills in order to receive, understand and relay complicated ideas or information to various groups of all levels.

7.      Effective at working independently, and as part of a team, able to take own initiative & decisions with minimal supervision.

Desirable criteria

1.      Experience in managing research grants and contracts

2.      Experience of working in a higher education environment
