Senior MRI Research Radiographer (Maternity Cover)

Updated: about 11 hours ago
Location: Oxford, ENGLAND
Deadline: 03 May 2024

We are looking to appoint a Senior Research Radiographer to join our MRI/MRS neuroscience research teams. You will be working across the two Wellcome Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging (WIN) sites: the Oxford Centre for Human Brain Activity (OHBA) based at the Warneford Hospital and the Centre for Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Brain (FMRIB) based at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

The post is for a fixed term, to cover the absence of the substantive postholder, who is taking a period of maternity leave. The post is available until 16th July 2025 or the actual return of the substantive postholder, or the resignation of the substantive postholder and employment of a new postholder, whichever is the earliest.

You will be responsible for supervising and conducting research scans, with a focus on the safety screening of research participants, ensuring their comfort and well-being during scans, and the accurate implementation of scanning protocols.   You will be scanning at both 3 Tesla and 7 Tesla (training specific to the 7T scanner will be provided).  The post offers a great opportunity to apply your radiography skills in a research context offering a blend of technical, administrative, and interpersonal duties. The position is central to maintaining a clinically acceptable, safe, and productive environment for all participants, patients, and researchers involved in the research studies.

You will have a degree in radiography (or equivalent qualification), current HCPC registration, along with demonstrable recent experience and a sound technical ability in MRI.   With excellent interpersonal skills you will be able to manage, empathise, and provide sole care for participants or patients, and use your initiative to problem solve.   Experience in a research environment would be desirable.

Whilst the role is a Grade 8 position, we would be willing consider candidates less experience who are seeking a development opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at Grade 7 (£36024-£44263) with the responsibilities adjusted accordingly. This would be discussed with applicants at interview/appointment where appropriate.

You will be required to upload a cover letter/supporting statement explaining how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post, and details of two referees as part of your application.

The closing date for applications is 12:00 midday on 3rd May 2024.
