A new position as Senior Manager for the newly created TAL is available with an immediate start. The TAL is an exciting new venture to establish a state-of-the art laboratory to support national, and international, Phase I, proof-of-concept experimental medicine clinical trials, through to registrational Phase III, precision medicine clinical trials. The TAL will provide complex genetic, phenotypic and histological analyses of human patient samples.
With the leadership skills, practical background and technical and management skills to make the TAL work efficiently and smoothly, you will lead the laboratory and operational TAL team. Under the guidance of the TAL Director,
Professor Paresh Vyas, you will take responsibility for establishing the TAL, including recruitment and line management of staff and enabling the TAL to gain, and maintain appropriate accreditation and certification including ISO17025:2017 and CLIA, respectively. With appropriate IT support you will also lead efforts to implement a LIMS system.
You will hold a BSc Honours degree in the biological sciences and extensive biomedical laboratory experience. Extensive experience of working in and running ISO (and ideally CLIA) accredited testing laboratories, including writing and reviewing controlled documents, formal reports and leading non-conformity investigations and audits will be essential. You will have experience of method validation and performance monitoring in a clinical laboratory with an in-depth knowledge and experience of Health and Safety and HTA regulations and procedures in a laboratory environment, creating and maintaining SOPs and risk assessments.
This position is available full-time (37.5 hours per week) for 3 years in the first instance.
