The role

The University of Bristol is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Coach to join its boat club coaching team and team of performance coaches. The role will support the Head Coach in the design, delivery and administration of the Performance sport of Rowing, assisting in the development of the club and students and the recruitment of talented Junior rowers to the program.

You will work closely with the Universities Sport Performance team, coaching community and support staff to support the professional delivery of the sport and rowing within the University environment.

What will you be doing?

  • Support the Head Coach in the design and delivery of the rowing program.
  • Undertake coaching duties on and off the water at all stages of our program, from supporting athletes through the GB trials process, to our novice programme.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate standards of behaviour and performance alongside the Head coach.
  • Assist the Head coach in ensuring athletes are compliant with Clean Sport requirements and best practice.
  • Assist with identifying and recruiting rowing athletes both undergraduate and postgraduate.
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of the fleet and training equipment (other than those requiring repair by a third party). Take shared responsibility for boat transport.
  • Work collaboratively with university staff to support the professional delivery of sport within the University environment.

  • You have excellent administrative, organisational and planning skills.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Are self-motivated, able to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Can work calmly under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage your time and workload effectively and take a flexible approach to work and adapt to changing priorities.
