Security Services Administrator

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Security Services Support Administrator to join the University of Bristol’s Security Services team with a starting salary of £26,444 rising to £29,605.

Working at Royal Fort Lodge the role will involve face to face interactions with staff, students and visitors. On a daily basis you will be producing staff and student Ucards and dealing with a host of security related enquiries. This is a front facing role requiring an onsite attendance 5 days per week.

Our University Security Services are here to keep our staff and students safe across campus. They are university staff and part of the wider team who support students in residences.  As the University continues to address unprecedented challenge and transformation, the security strategy will be to ensure staff, students and visitors are provided with a comprehensive security service enabling teaching, learning, living and recreation to take place in a safe, welcoming, and secure environment.

You will be expected to carry out the following tasks but please be aware this is not an exhaustive list:

  • Printing and encoding Staff and Student UCards
  • Handling a wide variety of telephone enquiries and shared mailbox management
  • Processing and issuing all car parking applications
  • Managing the Disabled and Departmental parking spreadsheets
  • Working with Security Officers for car parking enforcement queries
  • Daily use of custom software e.g. Permitsmarti / OnGuard / Q Reg
  • Taking card payments for lost Ucards / bike locks / bike lights / Parking coupons
  • Maintaining a financial journal for monthly Departmental charging

You will work with two other existing Security Services Support Administrators at Royal Fort Lodge. The core hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm. Applicants should be aware that September is an extremely busy time for the team producing new UCards for the annual intake of students. Applications for annual leave during the month of September and the last half of August will not be approved. 

  • You enjoy working in a busy office environment
  • You strive to deliver excellent customer service and you enjoy dealing with customers face to face
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • You have the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • You have experience in a customer-facing role
  • You have good IT skills
  • You have the ability to keep accurate records
