About the Job

The position is a 2 year temporary position at the Ugelstad Laboratory:

Ugelstad Laboratory (https://www.ntnu.edu/chemeng/research/ugelstad) is the group of colloid and polymer chemistry at Department of Chemical Engineering (https://www.ntnu.edu/chemeng) . Our research covers a range of fundamental and applied research within this field and we are active within topics such as characterisation of multiphase dispersions and interfaces, surfactants and biopolymers, particle synthesis, gas flotation and multiphase flow in porous media.

Currently, we have a vacant researcher position within synthesis and functionalisation of nano carriers for environmental delivery of CRISPR/Cas. The research will be part of the Nano4CRISPR project coordinated by NORCE. The main goal in our part of the project will be to develop and characterize nanoCRISPR conjugates that will be tested in other parts of the project.

Duties of the position

  • Pursuit of the project goals in preparing nano carriers for the targeted application
  • Presentation of research findings at project meetings and conferences
  • Dissemination of research results in the form of peer-reviewed manuscripts
  • Mentoring/co-supervision of MSc students

Required selection criteria

  • You must have a PhD within chemical engineering, materials engineering, chemistry, or similar
  • You must have experience with synthesis of nano structured materials or nanoparticles
  • You must have excellent written and oral English language skills

Preferred selection criteria

  • Experience with scientific writing and dissemination of scientific results
  • Good written and oral Norwegian language skills

  • Proactive mindset for conducting innovative research
  • Goal oriented and problem-solving mindset

We offer

Salary and conditions

The gross salary for the position of Researcher (Code 1109) is NOK 604.900 before tax per year.  From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund

The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criteria in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU

The position is subject to external funding. 

It is a prerequisite that you can be present at and accessible to the institution daily.
