The postholder will be responsible for conducting ecological and transdisciplinary research, as part of an international collaborative research programme (The Flourishing Landscapes Programme) on ecological intensification in smallholder agricultural systems at tropical forest frontiers. This will include conducting ecological research on the role of biodiversity in moderating Natures Contributions to People (NCPs) in smallholder agricultural landscapes in Ecuador, Ghana and Viet Nam. Further, the post-holder will work with community and food system stakeholders to develop farmer led tools for monitoring biodiversity in agricultural landscapes. The role will also involve food system stakeholder engagement and coordinating with international collaborators and reporting to the programme funders.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD and/or postdoc experience conducting research in an area relating agricultural ecology, forest ecology, restoration ecology in tropical contexts. This will include experience in collecting and/or analysing data for at least one of the following: terrestrial/ airborne laser scanning or UAV photogrammetry, bio-acoustics relating to bats or birds, DNA metabarcoding, microclimate sensor networks, soil nutrient profiling / metabolism, pollinating insect (camera) trapping / identification.
