Summary of the role

This post is available immediately on a fixed term basis for 3 years. It is based within the Centre for Resilience in Environment, Water and Waste (CREWW), Streatham Campus. The faculty wishes to recruit a Research Technician to support the work of Professor Richard Brazier, Dr Alan Puttock and Dr Diego Panici

The research project affords a unique opportunity to work with, and learn from, an experienced team utilising cutting edge methods to monitor and quantify the impact of Natural Flood Management (NFM) interventions across Devon as part of the Devon Resilience Impact Project (DRIP). The candidate will help undertake field-based monitoring, collecting and interpreting data used to inform and quantify the impact of different NFM interventions. This will involve working with colleagues using existing methods and workflows to deliver high quality hydrological monitoring outputs. The role will involve both field and desk-based analysis and all necessary training will be provided.

Applicants will possess a 2:1 degree (or higher) or relevant equivalent experience in environmental science, geography, ecology or a related subject and be able to demonstrate knowledge of terrestrial ecosystems, hydrology and field-based research methods and techniques. Ideally, the candidate will be able to work with GIS and geospatial analysis, although not essential. Applicants must demonstrate a track-record of fieldwork skills and an ability to work well both individually and as a team, and an ability to engage with project partners is essential.
