We are seeking to recruit a Research Technician with expertise in bacteriology laboratory work. You will work within a research consortium alongside veterinary researchers working together to understand the factors that influence the prevalence of antibacterial resistant (ABR) Escherichia coli in various farming systems in Wales.
You will administer the distribution of sample collection materials, the receipt of samples collected from environments in and around farms, and will undertake primary processing of these samples. You will plate these processed samples to recover resistant E. coli and record the results.
You have experience of working in a technical laboratory in the field of bacteriology. You have the knowledge and understanding of laboratory techniques and good communication skills. Specific methodological training can be provided if necessary. A degree in microbiology or a related discipline is desirable but not essential.
For informal enquiries please contact Professor Matthew Avison; [email protected].
Interviews will be held on Friday 26th April 2024.
We recently launched our strategy to 2030 tying together our mission, vision and values.
The University of Bristol aims to be a place where everyone feels able to be themselves and do their best in an inclusive working environment where all colleagues can thrive and reach their full potential. We want to attract, develop, and retain individuals with different experiences, backgrounds and perspectives – particularly people of colour, LGBT+ and disabled people - because diversity of people and ideas remains integral to our excellence as a global civic institution.
