About the Role
Applications are invited for a part-time (3 days per week) Research Nurse/Research Practitioner post to facilitate the recruitment and management of a research study involving adult tuberculosis (TB) patients and their household contacts. This study, funded by Asthma + Lung UK, is designed to develop a new blood test for TB infection. The post holder will be responsible for recruiting and taking blood samples from 250 study participants attending Barts Health NHS Trust TB clinics in East London (Mile End, Whipps Cross and Newham). They will join a research team comprising a Professor, a Lecturer, a Clinical PhD student and a laboratory technician, all based at Queen Mary University of London’s Blizard Institute.

About You
A highly-motivated and driven Research Nurse/ Research Practitioner who is experienced in academic research studies and phlebotomy. Fluency in Bangla/Sylheti/Urdu and experience in tuberculosis management will both be an advantage, but we are particularly looking for enthusiasm and an ability to work autonomously and meet recruitment targets.

About the Institute
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London and is 21 hours per week (FTE 0.6) for 24 months with a starting salary in the range of £40223-£47178, this will be pro rata per annum based on the required hours and experience. The post is inclusive of London Allowance.
