Research Laboratory Technician (Fixed Term)

We wish to appoint a Research Laboratory Technician to a research position at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, Cambridge, for a fixed-term duration of 1 year, in the first instance. The successful candidates will join the research programme led by Prof Tamar Makin and support cutting-edge research programmes investigating the boundaries of brain plasticity for augmenting and restoring hand function and dysfunction, in both abled and disabled individuals.

The postholder will work under designer Dani Clode, the Plasticity Lab's Senior Technical Specialist and the creator of the Third Thumb and will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the development of the Third Thumb, related projects, and other custom equipment utilised in the research programme. The postholder should have relevant experience in electronics, 3D modelling, 3D printing, coding, assembly, and interest in working with the human body.
