KiTEC is part of the London Institute of Healthcare Engineering and the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences at King’s College London. We bring together leading academics within medicine, engineering and medical physics, along with clinical opinion leaders and HTA experts to support innovators with their clinical implementation plans from the earliest stage in the development of their technology, often while the prototype is being developed and during proof concept.

We also generate evidence for commercial clients who wish to bring their technologies to NICE and the NHS and support innovators to develop their medical technologies in line with HTA principles. Our bespoke consultancy service proactively anticipates and prepares innovators for clinical implementation.


About the role
THIS VACANCY IS OPEN TO INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY

KiTEC is looking for a Senior Health Technology Assessor (HTA) to join the health technology assessment team. KiTEC conducts independent evaluations of medical devices, digital and AI health technologies for NICE and the NHS and helps start-ups and SMEs to develop and provide evidentiary support for their value proposition. This includes writing grant applications to secure funding.

The successful candidate will work closely with the director to manage the delivery of health technology assessment projects and undertake business development and client relationship activities in support of these activities, particularly in the area of AI enabled devices. This person would also be expected to contribute and lead initiatives to support KiTEC’s strategic direction. A working knowledge of systems thinking in healthcare and experience of thought leadership initiatives would be advantageous in this role. Contributions to research projects within the school are also supported should the successful candidate wish to pursue an academic career.

The Senior HTA will be expected to contribute to the development of proposals for new business from scratch and identify business opportunities with new clients and contribute to the overall profitability, success and positive image of KiTEC Services. This is an opportunity to have a role in influencing the adoption of healthcare innovation at an international level.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 28 February 2025.


About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • An undergraduate degree in a science or health related field
  • A PhD in applied science to healthcare or clinical research.
  • Evidence of experimental protocol design for real-world evaluation of healthcare technologies.
  • Knowledge of appropriate funding streams in the UK and globally of medical technology research.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of several clinical pathways in the NHS or other countries.
  • Skills in literature searching relating to public health, social care, evidence-based health care, clinical and cost-effectiveness
  • Excellent written communication skills - ability to write coherently, and in good English, about a range of health technology related topics
  • Experience of writing reports/publications
  • Desirable criteria

  • Experience in high level programming languages e.g Matlab, or Python.
  • Experienced in Meta-analysis statistical methods
  • Experience in developing and conducting complex, multi-level literature searches
  • Demonstrates an ability to foster collaborative team-working between different professionals across institutions
