About the job:
Join our team at the School of Nursing & Midwifery, Queen’s University Belfast, as a Research Fellow. We're seeking a dedicated individual, ideally with or soon to obtain a PhD in health, ageing, or social care, to collaborate with Dr Gary Mitchell's team. Together, we aim to optimise diabetes care in nursing homes through the co-development and testing of a new digital intervention.
As a key member of our research team, you'll play a vital role in co-designing and field-testing the intervention. Your responsibilities will span various research activities, including conducting systematic reviews, semi-structured interviews, Delphi surveys, and co-design workshops. Additionally, you'll contribute to project planning and delivery, interacting closely with our multidisciplinary team.
About the person:
The ideal candidate will bring research expertise in health and social care for older adults, along with experience in developing and evaluating digital interventions for educational purposes. Clinical experience in care home settings and working with individuals with type 2 diabetes is essential. Essentialshortlistingcriteria
- Have or be about to obtain* a PhD in a relevant field such as health, ageing or social care (*must be obtained within 6 months of the closing date for the post).
- Research experience in relation to health and social care of older.
- Research experience in relation to the development, implementation and evaluation of digital interventions for the purpose of education.
- A minimum of one-year clinical practice experience (e.g., registered nurse, pharmacist, dietician, geriatrician) in relation to care home settings and care of people with type two diabetes.
- Significant relevant research experience to include experience of research fieldwork in health or a closely related.

This post is available for up to 21 months or until 31 May 2026, whichever is sooner. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
