About Us

Surrey Ion Beam Centre is a UK National Research Facility, it’s a world leading multidisciplinary facility focussed on ion implantation and ion beam analysis and functionalisation of next generation materials for various applications.

About the role 

The Research Fellow will be required to investigate the technical challenges involved in the production of flexible perovskite solar modules with the aim of transferring the knowledge gained to scalable large area techniques. This includes the design, synthesis and advanced characterisation of exsolved 2D materials based Battery materials.

As a Research Fellow you will be expected to;

  • Be involved in the preparation and delivery of progress reports attend to project progress meetings and present those results to a wider audience through scientific articles and conference presentations where appropriate. 
  • Support existing activities and PhD students working within the research group and in particular those associated with the project.
  • Lead experiments and work with National research facilities (i.e., Surrey Ion Beam centres and other NRFs, ESRF). Battery testing of the newly designed materials.
  • Perform critical analysis of the results and report to supervisors with regular updates, perform extensive literature review to keep up-to-date with the research progress in the field, and write scientific papers for publications.
  • Assist in the production of intellectual property and/or high-impact papers for the benefit of both team members and the University of Surrey.

About you

  • A PhD in a relevant area of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science.
  • Prior experience in complete characterisation, plasma modifications of surfaces and knowledge of atmospheric pressure plasma.
  • Experience in report and scientific publication writing.
  • Willingness to work proactively and independently.
