Applications are invited for the post of Research Fellow in Novel Superconducting Quantum Device Physics in the Department of Physics.

The post holder will work on the design and implementation of novel superconducting quantum devices, including novel designs of qubits and hybrid designs based on proximity effect with magnetic and normal metal systems. 

The post is funded via the Oxford University led Quantum Hub in Quantum Computing and Simulation and the post holder will work in an interdisciplinary consortium both internally at Royal Holloway and externally within the QCS hub consortium. 

The holder of this post will be expected to help produce independent and original research. Facilities available will include access to the SuperFab nanofabrication centre at Royal Holloway, which is dedicated to the design, fabrication and exploration of superconducting quantum devices.

The post holder will be expected to aid in the production and submission of publications to refereed journals, and to work together with and supervise postgraduate and MSci students. The successful applicant will have a PhD in Experimental Solid State Physics or a closely related area, as well as prior experience in relevant fields such as superconducting quantum devices or spintronics. Experience in quantum device modelling, nanofabrication and device measurement will be advantageous.

This is a full time post, available from 1 February 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter for a fixed term period of 10 months at Royal Holloway, University of London, with the possibility of extension. 

This post is based in Egham, Surrey where Royal Holloway, University of London is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
