The Participatory Engagement for City Communities Against NCD Risk in Bangladesh and Nepal (The PECAN Project).

The PECAN project aims to adapt, implement and evaluate a participatory community intervention in cities in Nepal and Bangladesh to address non-communicable disease (NCD) risk determinants and consequences.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to join our team and be responsible for co-ordination of project activities and the evaluation of community interventions to reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases in cities in Bangladesh and Nepal.

About the role

The postholder will provide project management, coordination and technical support with partners in Bangladesh and Nepal and with the Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases and funders (UKRI) in the UK.

The post holder will be expected to:

  • Coordinate the development and finalisation of study protocols;
  • Conduct literature and document reviews;
  • Coordinate and manage the implementation of study protocols, including data quality assurance, processing and storage, in close collaboration with study partners;
  • Lead and support analysis of data through the development of analysis plans and by carrying out statistical analysis.

About you

The candidate must have a PhD or equivalent working experience in epidemiology, global health, statistics, public health, social sciences or a related discipline.

Experience in multi-disciplinary team working, experience of data management for large-scale datasets and knowledge and experience of leading statistical analyses using Stata, including descriptive statistics and regression analysis are also essential requirements for this post.

The ideal candidate will have excellent understanding of quantitative survey research methods applied in global health and will have previous experience of conducting literature reviews, preparing reports and presentations. They will be organised, with meticulous attention to detail and with careful and systematic approach to tasks.
