Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in integrative structural biology? Are you looking to apply your skills to understand the molecular pathogenesis of inherited disorders? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?

We are looking for an outstanding postdoctoral research fellow to join our interdisciplinary research team and work on ciliary proteins implicated in genetic disorders. Funded by the UK BBSRC, you will use integrative structural biology, high-speed atomic force microscopy and other cutting-edge biophysical techniques alongside cell biology methods to investigate the structures of these proteins and study their interactions with binding partners. This will provide a molecular-level understanding of how they contribute to cilium function and how mutations cause disease.

You should have (or be close to completing) a PhD  in structural biology or a closely allied discipline, have extensive experience of studying protein structure/dynamics (e.g. by X-ray crystallography, NMR, cryo-EM, molecular dynamics simulations, mass spectrometry), and strong laboratory skills in cloning, recombinant protein production and purification. You should also have an interest in learning new techniques and a passion for integrative structural biology.

The University of Leeds and the Faculty of Biological Sciences are committed to providing equal opportunities for all and offer a range of family friendly policies. The University is a charter member of Athena SWAN (the national body that promotes gender equality in higher education), and the Faculty of Biological Sciences was awarded a Silver award in 2020.  We are proud to be an inclusive Faculty that values all staff, and are happy to consider requests for flexible working arrangements from our employees.
