Fixed Term Contract Length: 18 Months

Are you an experienced and driven Natural Language Processing (NLP) researcher ready to make impact? Join the Advanced Care Research Centre (ACRC) at The University of Edinburgh and be at the forefront of innovative solutions for promoting healthy ageing and future care for people in later life. 

You will collaborate with leading experts in an interdisciplinary environment focused on creating real-world impact. You will develop cutting-edge clinical NLP technology using large language models and machine learning as part of a wider team in collaboration with clinicians and in partnership with people in later life, their families and communities. You will also be part of a clinical NLP group which facilitates collaboration, networking and knowledge exchange. 

This post is fixed term from 01/07/24 for 18 months.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week).

We are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. 

We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • PhD or PhD nearing (within three months of) completion in Computer Science, Informatics or a related discipline (e.g. natural language processing, artificial intelligence, machine learning), or equivalent extensive experience in those areas.
  • Experience with natural language processing techniques on solving real world problems and/or largescale datasets.
  • Strong programming skills, preferably with experience in applying machine learning to text mining.
  • Experience in writing scientific papers and reports.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
