Location: City of Leicester, ENGLAND

About the role
We invite applications for a postdoctoral researcher to join Prof. Eamonn Mallon’s lab within the Department of Genetics and Genome Biology at the University of Leicester. You will work on a project funded by the Leverhulme Trust to understand the role of epigenetics in ageing in the model insect Nasonia vitripennis.
The Mallon lab has recently discovered an epigenetic clock in these insects and we wish to tell the system by looking at histone modifications in the ageing process. An ability to carry out ChIP-seq in insects would be especially valuable.
You will be part of the Neurogenetics Group at the University of Leicester, composed of 8 PIs, 10 PDRAs and 20 PhD students. With research in evolutionary genomics (Feuda and Hammond, and Mallon labs), neurogenetics (Kyriacou, Rosato, and Chen labs), auditory physiology (Warren lab), and neurodegeneration (Giorgini lab). Expect active participation in group meetings and social activities to facilitate networking and independent collaborations. Other opportunities in science career development, including leadership, teaching opportunities, as well as grant and manuscript preparation, will also be part of the role.
About you
You are highly motivated, creative, and passionate and hold (or are about to submit) a PhD in molecular genetics, bioinformatics, evolutionary biology or similar fields and possess a strong record of research excellence. There is the possibility of developing the project further through independent fellowship applications (e.g., EMBO and Marie Curie).
