The Hamilton Kerr Institute (HKI) is a department of the Fitzwilliam Museum and is one of the world's leading centres for teaching and research in paintings conservation. The Fitzwilliam Museum has Conservation departments for works on paper, books, manuscript conservation as well as for objects and antiquities. The role holder will investigate and document individual objects and works of art with a combination of non-invasive techniques and scientific imaging in particular, such as Macro-X-Ray Fluorescence scanning, Infrared Reflectography, Hyperspectral Imaging, as well as invasive techniques such as sampling, and microscopy techniques including Scanning Electron Microscopy.
Come and join our wonderful multidisciplinary team. We are seeking a proactive team player with effective communication skills, as much of their work will require interdisciplinary collaboration with other scientists as well as with curators, conservators and scholars and students from across the University and beyond.
In return we offer an encouraging and supportive environment, an attractive pension scheme and many employee benefits such as a shopping discounts scheme.
