This role will be coordinating the study for the menopause MATTERs study investigating the impact of menopause and its treatment on healthy women and women with systemic lupus. The successful applicant will have a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant specialist subject or have equivalent experience and possess some research experience and/or knowledge of research methods and techniques. As this will be a mixed methods study, both quantitative and qualitative research methods will be required. We can provide training in areas you are unfamiliar with, but experience with data collection and data management is highly desirable. We are a friendly multidisciplinary team and the role-holder will need to be comfortable liaising and working with colleagues of all levels of seniority, and including patients as equal members of the team. There will be additional research tasks for the related ongoing study projects including investigating inequalities in care for different ages, genders and ethnic groups.
The role-holder will assist in the design and (online) administration of surveys and be responsible for carrying out in-depth interviews with women experiencing menopause, including topics of a sensitive intimate nature.
The applicant will need strong inter-personal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD (or equivalent experience), including those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD. Where a PhD has yet to be, awarded appointment will initially be made at research assistant and amended to research associate when the PhD is awarded (PhD needs to be awarded within 6 months of the start date). If an individual has not submitted a PhD or is not working towards one they could be appointed as a Research Assistant if they have either a degree (and/or Master's) in a relevant area or equivalent experience.
This is a full-time position. We also welcome applications at no less than 0.5 FTE per week. The exact times worked are flexible and the post-holder can work largely from home/remotely if desired with the expectation that they will attend in-person one day per week and the occasional F2F meeting.
