Duties and Responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity for a Medical Statistician to join a multidisciplinary team of medical statisticians, epidemiologists, clinicians and policy practitioners. The role provides a unique opportunity for a medical statistician to contribute to collaborative clinical research projects and the application of novel (Bayesian) dynamic prediction modelling in new disease areas.


The post holder will work with the Biostatistics Group (BSG) at the UCL Department of Statistical Science / Joint Research Office and will also work on the PsyMaptic-A project at the UCL Division of Psychiatry, to develop and validate a new dynamic prediction modelling tool to forecast the expected incidence and prevalence of psychotic disorders in England using epidemiological, demographic and other data sources. A 50:50 split is envisaged between the PsyMaptic-A project and the BSG work.


This joint post is available immediately and is funded for three years in the first instance.
Key Requirements
Candidates should hold or be close to submitting a PhD (or equivalent qualification) in Statistics/ Medical Statistics. It is essential that the successful candidate has experience of working as a statistician in a health research environment, previous involvement in clinical trials and/ or observational studies in health research and strong organisational and communication skills.
If the successful candidate has not yet been awarded their PhD, the appointment will initially be made as Research Assistant on Grade 6 of the UCL salary scale (£29,809 - £31,432 per annum inclusive of London Allowance), and the appointee will be regraded to Research Associate on completion of the PhD with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
