Research Associate in Academic Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, Clinical Sciences Centre

Hull York Medical School

Academic Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, Clinical Sciences Centre

The appointee will join a dynamic research team in the Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism research group, part of the Hull York Medical School (HYMS). The group is based at Allam Diabetes Centre, Hull Royal Infirmary, with both clinical and basic laboratory research facilities on site.   The research interests include multiple domains of diabetes and endocrinology including nutritional and pharmacological interventions in type 2 diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome and obesity.  The group has a high reputation for clinical trials and research is supported by tenured support and technical staff and is managed by a group manager supported by clinical trials coordinators, research nurses, administrators, and secretaries. There are currently two clinical research fellows and four PhD students. The group has good track record in publishing in peer reviewed journals.

This post-doctoral research associate position at HYMS is suitable for an enthusiastic and ambitious researcher looking to complement the ADEM group. Individuals with diverse clinical research interests within this field are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will contribute to the design and delivery of health-related clinical research including clinical trials in this area and development of research funding applications to the UK and international funding bodies.

The postholder will be involved in day-to-day management of clinical research studies including clinical trials, collecting and analysing data, contributing to literature reviewing, to grant proposal writing and to the dissemination of research study outputs. The role will allow substantial scope for developing an academic career.

The award of a PhD in health-related subject (clinical/health sciences, pharmaceutical science or related areas) is required prior to taking up this position.

This post requires a criminal records check through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
