This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and talented researcher to join the PEMC group and become a core member of a team developing state-of-the-art electrical machines for future cars and aircraft. Applications are invited for the above position to join the growing Power Electronics, Machines and Drives Research Group at the University of Nottingham. The PEMC group has undergone a significant period of growth and now has over 200 members, with 24 academics (including 9 full professors) and approximately 130 PhD students and post-doctoral research fellows. The group has excellent facilities for experimental work including approximately 2500m2 of research space and a construction and testing capability up to 5MW. The current post arises from projects with key industrial partners in the field of transportation for which a research fellow with experience in electromagnetic design is required.

Candidates must hold or be about to obtain a PhD or equivalent and research experience in electrical machines. The applicant must be able to demonstrate that they can design and analyse electrical motors. Practical experience with experimental testing of motors is important, in particular experience with machines for future electrified transport. The ability to work in a team, lead both internally and externally, and interact/collaborate actively and professionally with industrial partners is essential.

This full-time (36.25 hour) post is available immediately and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 24 months. There is potential for extension, subject to funding. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Chris Gerada ([email protected]), Gaurang Vakil ([email protected]) and Mohammad Ilkhani ([email protected]). Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
