Location: University Park
The successful candidate will conduct work as part of the EPSRC-funded research project “BEAR - Bioleaching and Electrodialytic Applications for metal Recovery from wastes” with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
The role holder will explore the potential of bioleaching and electrodialysis, two emerging technologies, to selectively extract and recover rare earth elements from different waste materials, to achieve a circular economy.
Candidates should have a PhD (or about to obtain) in Environmental/Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences, or a closely related discipline and should have experience in resource recovery from wastes or other complex matrices.
The post is offered on a fixed term contract for 12 months, that cannot surpass 31st December 2025. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week) ; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 20 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may also be considered.
Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
