The School of Psychology at the University of Nottingham is seeking to appoint a full-time (36.25 hour) Research Associate/Fellow to support Dr Daniel Jolley. The position is fixed term until 31st March 2027. Job share arrangements may be considered.

This position is funded by a new Leverhulme Research Project grant titled “Conspiracy-juror bias: Studying how a conspiracy mindset affects jurors”, which starts on 1st April 2024. This project will explore how a general tendency to engage in conspiracy theorising may impact jury decision-making, thus showcasing the existence of a conspiracy juror bias. We will then explore the mechanisms underpinning this relationship, when the conspiracy-juror bias may be more pronounced and how such a bias can impact evidence interpretation within a court trial.

 The successful candidate will:

  • have experience in setting up and developing online surveys and experiments (including considering ethics and data management).
  • have high analytical ability to analyse and interpret data whilst using appropriate statistical analysis packages (e.g., SPSS, AMOS, R).
  • have excellent communication and organisational skills, including prior experience in disseminating research (e.g., through publications and conference presentations).
  • proven ability to work independently and to take initiative whilst working collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • be able to support other researchers within the wider research group.
  • play an active role in the research community within the School of Psychology.

 THE BENEFITS OF THE ROLE

  • You will play an important role in a novel and exciting interdisciplinary project, with opportunities to attend conferences.
  • Generous holiday leave - 30 days (pro-rata) annual leave plus University closure days and bank holidays.
  • Access to employee pension scheme and annual flexible benefits scheme.
  • We are committed to promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion across the Faculty and supporting family-friendly and flexible working policies on an individual basis. The School holds an Athena Swan Silver Award, which recognises and celebrates good employment practices undertaken to address gender equality in Higher Education and research.

Please upload a 2-page cover letter and CV with your application.

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups for this full-time post, and we hope for a start date in April 2024.

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be addressed to Dr Daniel Jolley, Assistant Professor, [email protected]. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
