Overview

About the Role

An exciting opportunity for two fulltime researchers to join the newly funded NIHR DeNPRU (Dementia and Neurodegenerative diseases policy research unit), based in QMUL. DeNPRU is funded to generate the evidence policymakers need to develop and deliver effective and equitable health and social care in England that will make it the best place in the world for those with dementia or a neurodegenerative disease to receive care and support, wherever they live and whatever their background. You will work in a central team of four researchers at QMUL, and with national partners.

 About You

You should be enthusiastically committed to supporting and facilitating research that makes an impact and a team player. The post holder will work across an exciting portfolio of projects, including a national survey of memory services, systematic reviews and mixed methods projects, under the management of Dr Charlotte Kenten, as well as supporting data collection for the NIHR/ESRC APPLE-Tree dementia prevention programme. This is intended as a development role, and would be an ideal stepping stone to a PhD or to a career in a clinical discipline, such as clinical psychology. In addition to the main duties of the role, we will support the successful candidate to explore and meet their training and development needs towards their chosen career, for example through authoring publications, developing other outputs and participating in other Centre activities, such as teaching.

Programmes include work in health services, forensic settings and population studies of risk and protective factors, co-morbidities and health inequalities. We have an excellent track record in cultural, social and environmental epidemiology, intervention co-design, trials of complex interventions, the arts and mental health and global mental health research.
