We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to join the vibrant team at the Jenner Institute, Nuffield Department of Medicine.

This project will focus on the design, expression and testing of the next generation of malaria transmission blocking vaccines as part of the UltiMalVax project. You will participate in the research project led by Professor Sumi Biswas to develop malaria transmission-blocking vaccines and contribute to wider project planning.This position offers the chance to gain valuable knowledge and training in both vaccine design and purification, as well as the overall vaccine development pipeline the Jenner Institute is renowned for.

You will be responsible (post training) for the production and purification of proteins as required by the group. You will also be responsible for overseeing the daily housekeeping of the laboratory area involved in protein vaccine production. Additionally, you will help in preparing scientific papers for publication, present the research at scientific conferences and contribute to the Jenner website.

To be successful in this role, you will hold a degree in a relevant biological subject, or a related discipline together with some practical laboratory experience with biological materials. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with keen attention to details. You will have ability to research complex issues and interpret and capable for working independently in a laboratory. Having experience in molecular biology techniques is highly desirable.
