The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health.

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated researcher with experience and interest in environmental epidemiology to join the Environment & Health Modelling (EHM) Lab (https://www.lshtm.ac.uk/research/centres-projects-groups/ehm-lab ) led by Prof Antonio Gasparrini at LSHTM. The successful candidate will be involved in various research projects within the EHM-Lab, focused on evaluating associations between environmental stressors, climate change, and health. These will include novel epidemiological analyses using the UK Biobank, a large cohort of 500,000 UK participants (https://www.ukbiobank.ac.uk/ ), small-area analyses using administrative databases in the UK, and planetary health research projects within the Multi-Country Multi-City (MCC) Collaborative Research Network (https://mccstudy.lshtm.ac.uk/ ).

The post is offered at a Research Assistant (RA) or Research Fellow (RF) scale, depending on career level and expertise. Prospective candidates are expected to have an undergraduate degree in the field of health/environmental science or statistics, and postgraduate training in epidemiology, biostatistics, and/or environmental health. Required skills include expertise in epidemiological study designs and statistical methods for environmental health research (relevant to the career stage), as well as some experience in the management and analysis of large health databases. An essential requirement is the knowledge of the R software and experience with its application in real-data analysis.

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE and fixed-term until 07 July 2026. The post is funded by the Faculty of Public Health and Policy is available from 04 March 2024.

The salary will be in the range £38,282 - £43,947 for Research Assistant or £43,947 - £49,908 for Research Fellow per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
